June recap

Home / News / June recap

June may be over, but that doesn’t mean we can’t reminisce on all the fun things the Let’s Go! crew got up to in the past month.

To start off the month, we visited a new and unique restaurant – Karen’s Diner. It was a riveting experience as it was a mixture of horribly rude staff but delicious and mouthwatering burgers that you can’t get enough of. Don’t worry the staff are meant to be as rude as possible, but I don’t think their poor behaviour impacted us at all because we all came out smiling and laughing at the weird experience we just went through.

For our Disney fans, we were able to fully immerse ourselves into the world that is Disney. Disney: The Magic of Animation exhibit allowed us to see how our favourite Disney movies came to life, from doodles on a notebook to moving and talking animations on the big screen. We got to see where the decades of stories or shorts originated from, as well as catch a sneaky glimpse of upcoming Disney releases 😉

We also had a great night watching the Women’s Origin at our headquarters. Although, the mighty Maroons weren’t able to attain the trophy, it was amazing to come together to watch and support women in sports. Even though we weren’t physically at the stadium, the energy and atmosphere at the office sparked greater excitement than the stadium itself.

For the musical lovers, a group of us jumped into the Let’s Go! van and drove down to Creekfest at Currumbin. Not only did were we able to expand our musical horizons and listen to some amazing local musicians and bands with the sun beaming down on us, we had a stroll along the beach and finished off the day with a delicious meal with a beautiful backdrop of the colourful sunset.

The music didn’t stop there as we took two of our biggest Nirvana fans to a Nirvana Tribute show at the Triffid and from the big smiles on their faces, I could tell it was a night to remember. The trios alikeness to the original band was so uncanny it had everyone fully mesmerised. The band had the whole crowd dancing and singing along to Smells like Teen Spirit and Come as you are, and they really celebrated the impact Nirvana had on the music industry by singing the entire 1992 Australian tour set list, song for song, note for note. It was a blast from the past and the tribute band had the crowd wanting more, with the word “encore” filling the room as the concert came to an end.
