What a way to start off 2023! This month was filled with a variety of sports games, social nights, and artistic experiences. Scroll down and have a read of all the fun things we got up to in January.

We started off the new year with a BIG BASH! A few of us attended the annual New Years Day bash game at the Gabba. It was the perfect sunny day for it as we watched as the Heat take on the Sydney Sixers. And to kick things up a notch, we got live entertainment from Peking Duck, Ball Park Music, KLP and Stace Cadet. It was the best way to kick off the first day of 2023!

Tennis players from all around the world came to Brisbane for a few days to compete in the United Cup Tennis match. Will and Natalie had the opportunity to spend a day at Pat Rafter Arena watching Italy go head to head with Norway.

The best thing about Aussie summers are the Heat games – we just can’t get enough of it! Some spent an evening watching the Heat verse the Perth Scorchers. It was an unfortunate loss for our boys but they played well and fought hard!

We visited the Brisbane Roars home arena and saw them go head to head with Wellington Phoenix. We had our Roar merch ready to go and we were pumped up for the game. Although they lost, the crowd continued to cheer them on (we were the loudest by far) and we gave them words of encouragement to help them prepare for their next game.

On one Saturday evening, Peter and Hayden made their way to QPAC to watch Six the Musical. It was a combination of history and music. It was a fantastic, engaging, fun and informative show about the 6 wives of Henry Viii.

Whilst others were watching the soccer game up at Kayo stadium, a group of us journeyed down to Nissan Arena to watch the Bullets play head to head with Melbourne United. It was a tough game and the score board had everyone on the edge of their seats. The crowds energy was out of this world, and although we weren’t able to cheer the Bullets onto victory, our support for them never faltered.

A few of us got to attend another Relate-Ability mingling event! It was the first one of the year and we couldn’t be more excited to join in on the fun. There was a whole lot of chatter and giggling as well as singing and dancing in between. It was a great way to catch up with old friends as well as meet new people and make some friends. Overall it was a banger of an evening!

On one Saturday evening, we ventured over to Holey Moley Putt Putt in Chermside where we spent the evening hitting golf balls. We all walked away feeling like champions as we all had a go and tried our best!

Matthew and Mia took the chance of a lifetime and went to see the one and only Elton John in his last tour ever! He sang his way into everyones heart and souls, and he left the whole of Suncorp Stadium in awe as he sang everyones favourite tunes.

We love a good Friday evening cricket game! It was the perfect evening for it – not too hot and not too cold. It was a memorable game, with the scores almost at a tie, the Hurricanes and the Heat had everyone on the edge of their seats. With luck on our side, the Heat were crowned winners of the game and we couldn’t have been happier!

Arakai and Robbo made their way to Fortitude Music Hall for another music filled night. They were serenaded by an iconic folk-bluegrass band – Dead South.

Blush was definitely a show to remember! A circus combined with cabaret and burlesque. It was truly spectacular and they had the whole crowd in fits of laughter and moments later they would have us all on the edge of our seats with our jaws on the floor. It was the perfect combination of tricks and comedic skits to engage with the audience and have us wanting more.

The Heats very last home game of the season was one for the books! The sun was in the sky, a slight breeze in the air, and the smell of stadium food floating all around us. The energy at the stadium was unmatched and everyone was closely watching as the scores got closer and closer, but by the end of the day the Heat came out as winners 🏆

We finished off the month with a bang! The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Post Malone took over Suncorp Stadium! They had the crowds dancing the night away and took everyone on a journey back in time with songs like Californication and Under the Bridge.
